Overview
Gina Fischli (b.1989) lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland. She received her BFA from the University of Fine Arts Hamburg in 2015 and subsequently her MFA from the Royal Academy of Art, London in 2018. Gina Fischli's practice in sculpture, painting and drawing consciously uses distinct and often kitsch materials. Rooted in her early studies of stage design, Fischli's practice engages familiar mechanisms of sculpture and space with alternative processes of production, often using craft-related techniques and unusual materials. She transforms banal subjects - including animals, household objects, and clothing - into objects of desire.
